Is Blogrush all its cracked up to be?

Man, it seems that every blog in existence these days has a Blogrush widget on it. Saying It’s really taken off is an understatement to say the least (Blogrush served 40,000,000 headlines in its first 5 days).

Blogrush was launched earlier this month by John Reese a well known internet marketing expert and the founder and CEO of Income.com who certainly knows a thing or two about how to promote websites and blogs. On face value his new blog promotion tool seems very promising and I have to admit it does look the business. We have it installed with its default colour scheme on this blog and it fits right in. John also recently announced blogrush flavours (see photo below) which will no doubt please webmasters as all the colours have a very nice web 2.0 feel about them and in my opinion are well chosen.

So how does blogrush work?

Blogrush basically works by using the power of RSS to promote your posts across a multitude of related blogs that have also signed up to the Blogrush network. Your blog headlines will be served up to visitors on these blogs with the aim of generating traffic virally. To quote the web site directly.

BlogRush users earn “syndication credits” (the right to have their blog post titles shown inside a widget on another related blog) based on their own traffic (loads of the widget) as well as the traffic of other users they refer to BlogRush…

What will also appeal to many blog owners is that BlogRush has a ten-tier referral system, which means you earn credits for bringing people into the program up to ten times below you. So it all sounds great, right? Well to be honest I’m not so sure and that leads me on to the next question.

Will it get you any traffic?

Well that’s the 64 thousand dollar questions isn’t it? Lets face it, this is all about getting traffic and more specifically readers to your blog. I think this will undoubtedly benefit those with already established blogs and readerships who get in early. I’ve been in the internet marketing arena long enough to know that many of the major players in internet marketing will have been notified well before time to ensure they have a first mover advantage and benefit from generating a full ten tier downline. They will also have considerable traffic levels (and therefore exposure) along with large email lists in which to promote Blogrush to a hungry readership.

As for the rest of us I expect we will be struggling to generate any sizeable traffic levels. It also remains to be seen what the quality of this traffic will be like. I know that Blogrush has already had to deal with a deluge of abuse and fraudsters who I think at this stage are probably the biggest challenge Blogrush has to face. Having said that I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt and see what happens over the next few months.

Visit the Blogrush website and have a look at their video if your interested in seeing what they have to offer.
