Don’t get banned from Google!

Well now I’ve got your attention make sure you read on as this could be the most important piece of information you read about building profitable websites.

There’s an awful lot of discussion on the internet about being dropped from the Google index. You only have to type in “banned from Google” in Google itself to see what I’m talking about. This topic has of course been stirred up by the recent controversy over the German BMW site which was infamously dropped by Google.

The reason for the ban was due to the German BMW site employing a technique used by black-hat search engine optimizers called doorway pages. German and international bloggers were quick to spread the news and despite dropping the doorway pages almost immediately (after having them live for almost 2 years), it was too late. German BMW suffered what is known as the ?Google death penalty?, a ban from almost any imaginable top search result, and a degrading of the PageRank to the lowest possible value.

BMW have now gained their Google PR rank (currently 7/10) back for this particular site but it still does not have the top spot in Google so we can all learn an important lesson here…
